Question 1 : What Made you fall in love with fashion?
Kotrina: “I never gave fashion much thought until I started college. Growing up,
especially in my teenage years everyone wore leggings, if you weren’t wearing leggings
skinny jeans people would be thrown off. It was the norm. At that age, many are just
trying to fit in, it was certainly the case for me. My mam always had really great outfits
and she wasn’t afraid to express herself through clothes. In a way this encouraged me
later on to explore my style myself. Starting in NCAD, I was exposed to a lot more
different styles. Growing up in a town it was rare to see someone who fully
expressed themselves through fashion, but seeing the students of NCAD owning themselves
through the clothes they wore, had really inspired me. Coming into college everyday
and seeing everyone’s outfits is probably what made me fall in love with fashion as
well as social media which had a big part to play as well.
Question 2: Would you say fashion is a way for you to express yourself?
Kotrina: “I definitely think it can be, I am still learning what I like or
don’t like. I’m really aware of fast fashion and how damaging it is for
the world at the moment. Currently I’m focused on buying second hand
and being very intentional about what I’m buying which means it’s quite
a slow process. While I’m still working on fully being able to express
myself through fashion, I think fashion is definitely a a great form of
expression.
Question 3: Did you always dress the way you do now? Or
did it take you a while to realize it?
Kotrina:”Not at all. I went through a phase of only wearing black. And
then I figured out how boring it is, now I hunt for colour in clothes. The
more colourful the better
Question 4: What is your favorite shade of green?
Kotrina: “Currently I really like Lime Green. The almost neon aspect
of it can elevate an outfit with a simple statement piece, like a scarf or a
hat.
