Question 1 : What Made you fall in love with fashion?
Claire Garvey : “ What made me fall in love with fashion from an early age. My Mum is an artist and from an early age was surrounded by paints and easels and was always creating.I loved fairies and dolls and used to paint fairies flying over rainbows with detailed outfits on.When I was seven I drew designs for a doll called Daisy and sent it to fashion designer Mary Quant, who created outfits for Daisy. She sent me a signed autograph and said she would keep me in mind for the future”.
Question 2: Would you say fashion is a way for you to express yourself?
Claire Garvey : “Fashion is definitely a way to express myself. When I was a teenager I was very shy and wore nothing I wanted.The turning point was seeing Boy George on top of the pops!!!.I was so moved and couldn't believe someone could have the confidence to be so expressive in their outfits. When I went to NCAD, I found more confidence and people who I could relate to too, and started coming out of my shell. If I can't wear what I design , I can't expect others to.”
Question 3 : Did you always dress the way you do now? Or did it take you a while to realize it?
Claire Garvey : “NO.3 same as NO.2. NO I used to wear jumpsuits and jeans and never really felt like me.I love skirts and fairytale. My hair is inspired by Russian Kokoshink. They were Russian headdresses I loved. I did a masters in costume design in Russia and was very inspired by them.I wear different hair pieces every day inspired by them.”
Question 4:What is your favourite shade of Green?
Claire Garvey : “ My favourite shade is olive. I was born in September so I love the crunch of the leaves,the autumn colours. I just love all the acorns and coloured leaves. Made a dress out of acorns before too.|’

“ This outfit in the picture was made from hundreds of discarded dolls dresses which I took apart and made into ruffles .The beads on the bodice part were donated by a lady who follows me on Instagram .People are so lovely l often get given trinkets and dresses that would end up in landfill otherwise and love giving them new life My bag is made from part of an old frida duvet.I love frida one of my inspirations.”
